Re: The Onion News Network (2.00 / 1)

I was more concerned about the recent news that an earthquake wiped out Etchisketchistan.

Priceless video. Thanks, Todd! Still laughing.

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 1)

Went out for a bike ride. Many yard signs for the town library expansion, few for candidates.

McCain's occupation plan will achieve victory when it bestows liberty to the freedom loving people of Iraq and their freedom loving oil.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

What's weird is, here in Phoenix there are NO yard signs nor bumper stickers for McSame. AZ is ripe for the plucking if only Obama will be the first Democrat since Bill Clinton to realize it.

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

I live in Columbia, Missouri and there are no McCain signs or bumper stickers.  Lots and lots of Obama ones, and I actually saw my first Hillary one the other day (obviously I must have just missed seeing it this past year).

Oddly enough I did see one lone McCain yard sign stuck by an exit on highway 70 on the 4th, but it was gone by the time I was heading home.

Isn't McCain (none / 0)

outspending Obama pretty badly in Missouri?  I recall reading an article about it.  Missouri should be one of Obama's top swing-states but it doesn't get as much pub as other battlegrounds for some reason.  Didn't McCaskill prove all you need to do is turn out African-Americans, athiests, and women to win Missouri?

Re: Isn't McCain (none / 0)

The University of Missouri is here in Columbia, so its more progressive than the rest of the state.  Southern and Northern Missouri is going to be tough for him.

Actually, the way McCaskill won was by learning from her failed governors race.  She campaigned aggressively in northern and southern Missouri, and spent less time in KC and St. Louis.  She still got smacked hard in the rural areas, but not quite as bad as in 2004.

To win Missouri as a Democrat you have to go into the conservative areas and convince some of them that you are not the anti-Christ.  If you do that and get max turnout in the two cities you can win.  I volunteer for his campaign here, and the Senator has already scheduled events in Rolla (southern missouri) and cape girardeu (spelling?  Also Rush LImbaugh's home town) for later in the summer.  If he keeps up that type of approach he has a shot here.

Re: Alex Baldwin's lil bro (2.00 / 2)

Word is one of the Baldwin brothers has claimed he will leave the country if Obama is elected.  Let's start a fund to pay for his airfare because since he's a God loving Christian I think he will live up to his word.

Re: Alex Baldwin's lil bro (2.00 / 1)

He'll probably need all the financial help he can get in order to leave since Alec is the only one who can actually make a living acting.

Or survive at all.  I suspect the other brothers would starve to death staring at a case of canned chili and can openers.

Shit.

That's a classic.

They should show it at the Democratic Convention.

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 2)

I got polled today!

Local NBC news affiliate... well, not local... state capitol... nothing too exciting... asked "country/state headed in the right/wrong direction" and the state of the economy in the country and the state...

I was hoping for some candidate polling... Still, it was cool to be polled!!! :-)

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 1)

McCain's new economic proposal is just insane. He wants to leave the tax cuts in place, create MORE of them, STAY in Iraq and Afghanistan, but he still insists he can balance the budget.

I think it's time for Obama to take a page from McCain's own book and tell people "that's not change we can believe in!"

Re: Open Thread (none / 0)

Apparently, Obama will accept at Invesco for his nomination. I dont know that to think: is this smart, or just really cocky? I mean, will it be Presidential?

Re: Open Thread (2.00 / 1)

I actually love the idea of that many more "little people" being able to share in the moment.  I makes it less about the party and more about the people.  I'm thrilled.
